More than 2,000 area high school freshman will gather from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.,Thursday, December 11 at the Fargodome to contemplate their future careers. The sixth annual Health, Tech & Trades Career Expo was created to expose students and their parents to occupational opportunities available in several industries through hands-on experiences.

Expanding each year, the event has grown to include over 60 different professions displayed by local and regional experts in their trades. Some of the industries represented will include: armed forces, construction trades, cosmetology, education, emergency & rescue, health care, information technology, manufacturing, transportation and utilities.

Exhibits are encouraged to be interactive, with students having the unique opportunity to try their hand at operating a crane, giving a manicure, handling a drill or inspecting a rescue vehicle, all in one place.

For the first time this year, a time period from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. has been allotted specifically for high school juniors, seniors and their parents.

Students in attendance will represent public and private schools from the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo metro area, as well as many other schools located within 30 miles.

RENEW House

The RENEW house is a collaborative effort between Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead Foundation and the Remodelors Council to remodel a home within the Neighborhood Revitalization program in the City of Fargo. RENEW stands for Restoring Existing Neighborhoods for Everyone’s Well-being.

Located at 923 5th Ave. S., the house will provide a wonderful opportunity for HBA members involved in remodeling to showcase their work. Plans for the house include building a garage, adding a mudroom/laundry room, completely remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, and refinishing the floors. HBC will sell the house for workforce housing and hopes to help a family own their first home. This project will help to show that dream homes are available at many different levels.
