The HBA of F-M offers a variety of services and benefits to its members. By participating in the association, members can enhance their business opportunities and gain a competitive edge by staying exposed to the most current information and issues. Being involved in HBA activities is the key to getting the most from membership.
Through its local, state, and national lobbying efforts, HBA is a voice for the home building industry. The HBA's efforts focus on the promotion of homeownership and fighting legislation that would result in cost increases to the residential buyer. Members: Read more in the Members Only menu item.
The HBA of F-M provides the opportunity to further its members' education through several seminars and educational opportunities. Many of these seminars offer credits to builders who need to meet state licensing requirements. Notice of these seminars is published in our monthly newsletter, the Plains Builder. They are also announced at the monthly General Membership Meetings. Members receive discounted rates for classes offered by the HBA.
Some of the various topics covered by these seminars are: marketing, technical, legislative, legal, tax, management, office, building codes, computers, health and safety.
Fun HBA events such as its Golf Outing in June and monthly General Membership Meetings are great opportunities to meet new people and build or begin business relationships. Members also have the opportunity to involve themselves with the HBA's committees, Remodelers Council or Home Builders Care Foundation. Click here if you are interested in signing up for a committee.
General Membership Meetings (GMMs) are offered each month September through May in the evening. Each meeting consists of fun and games, industry information, association business and an opportunity to socialize with your peers. The first general membership meeting you attend as a member is "on the house."
Three Memberships in One!
Upon becoming a member of the HBA of F-M, you also hold membership with the North Dakota Association of Builders (NDAB) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Both of these entities can provide you with a wealth of information.
On the state level, NDAB works hard in Bismarck to support legislation across the state that is favorable to the building industry; in addition, NDAB works with North Dakota's national representatives. The state association also offers several additional benefits such as education and leadership opportunities.
On the national level, NAHB's staff of technical experts examines and monitors the marketplace for members. They study economic, demographic, technological, legislative and regulatory issues, as well as consumer trends that will have an impact on the building industry and your business. NAHB has established and continues to provide a strong voice for members and the building industry, concerning legislative issues. NAHB's professional staff has the answers, whether members are dealing with day-to-day problems or complex issues that could have a major impact on their businesses.
The HBA has several opportunities for members to gain visibility and save money in the process. Each of these opportunities is readily available to all members.
Members can advertise to companies they want to do business with: utilize the Plains Builder (member magazine), Membership Directory, show tabloids, golf outing sponsorships and General Membership Meeting tabletop sponsorships.
Members receive discounted rates for these services. Most opportunities are member-exclusive.
Market your product and/or service to quality prospects. Members receive discounted rates on the Red River Valley Home and Garden Show and the Fall Home Show.
