Charlton Brings The Bubbly, And We Don't Mean Champagne

Whether it’s volunteering at the Home & Garden Show, Parade of Homes or Golf Outings, Elana Charlton undoubtedly shows up, smiling and ready to pitch in. That’s why the HBA of F-M selected her as the recipient of the 2020 Extra Mile Award.

Charlton was selected from a group of four members who received “member of the quarter” honors throughout the year. This quarterly recognition gives the HBA staff an opportunity to shine a spotlight on members who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty, eagerly volunteering their time for the betterment of the Association while promoting it within the community.

As current chair of the Parade of Homes Committee, Charlton’s volunteerism can always be relied upon, and her bubbly personality brings a level of energy to everything she does that is contagious to those around her.

Events & Marketing Manager Allison Weckman says, “It’s refreshing to work with someone like Elana as a member leader, especially in a year like 2020 when many of us are struggling to maintain positivity. She embraced the challenge of virtual meetings, makes sure she is prepared for each meeting and tries to add an element of fun and connectivity for fellow members who are attending.”

About a year into working for Goodin Company as a customer service representative, Charlton wanted to focus her attention on learning the market, and she knew that getting involved with her local HBA was a must, as it would provide a means for meeting Builder and Associate members in the area. She made that choice and hasn’t looked back, commenting that her favorite thing about the HBA of F-M is the remarkable team effort that takes place when it comes to working on projects that require multiple volunteers.

Typically, the Extra Mile Award winner is announced and celebrated at the Awards Gala & Annual Meeting in October, which was canceled. If you know Charlton, we invite you to congratulate her on this well-deserved award.
